Refferal System

How about a refferal system for hosting?

I guess the idea is to keep the hosting free. Why not implement that new users who want to sign up have to refer a person or 2 for the free hosting?

Chances are that if they are looking for hosting then they will know another person who would be interested.

I have no idea if this was discussed before.

This is like the circle of spam, but with referrals.

Another flaw is that users can just grab a proxy and an email address, re-register with a new email address, set the referrals up and fwabam! We get cheated out of valid referrals Tongue

I think a referral thing should be for the paid hosting...

Well, that would be like making paid hosting free...

referral system is not that good thing to add to the free hosting plans... as simmaster said, it could make this forum and our server filled with spammers and useless stuff.

We could consider having a thing for all paid clients that if they refer a friend to get a plan with us that they will get a discount for one pay period

You can do something different... i saw that in some Arabic forum .... it is called POINTS; when a member refer some friend to your service, whether he was on a paid or free plan (it differs in the points count) the original member will get a defined number of points to use them to get some other services within Host2x.

maybe it can be used to pay for the Post2Host instead of posts!

Just an idea...

Regards.

I Like most of this but! Using referrals to get rid of post's isn't what I would suggest as the forums here is a good place even if you are doing to get "free hosting" just my opinion though.

using refers to replace money = good
referrals to replace posts = bad
